Season 7 Episode 15 “A Medieval Maine Makeover”
Available on Amazon and other platforms.
Episode Tagline: “The Cabin Masters are summoned to Burgundar, a medieval role playing community, to repair their market, fire pit, and gathering inn. They rally against a ferocious rain storm and winter weather in the hopes that they can deliver a grand space. Will they prevail?”
In the Winter of 2021 the Burgundar Board applied to be on Maine Cabin Masters, a show that features a team of expert Maine builders as they renovate, remodel and rebuild Maine Cabins. The Burgundar LARP site did not fit the mold of most of their past episodes but that was the charm of the project.
The Tavern went from a shack to a beautifully finished structure inside and out. It finally honored the vision that the original owner, Noah, had for the structure. Utilizing the white pine siding the MCM is known for, the floor and walls were finally finished. Roofs were added to make the entire building more functional, and Ryan of the MCM crew personally helped save the rotting edge of the old roof with new flashing.
The Market Tent went from a worn down ruin to a true market pavilion, complete with metal roofing and beautiful timber framing. Originally made out of a recycled wedding tent and scrap lumber, and held together with tape and donated tarps, it had become a trash heap. Now, it was a gathering point for laughter and activity, and provides shade from the sun, and shelter from the snow and rain. The following year, Josh Burton, one of the Owner, Married his Wife Carrie Johnson on the Tavern Stage, and ate their first meal as Husband and Wife under the new Market Pavilion.
The Fire Pit, which was deteriorating was repaired and wobbly benches were replaced with “Super Bench” a five section bench that can support 30+ people around the fire (half sitting half standing)
On the day of filming for the grand reveal community members were invited and over 40 attended (almost too many for the film crews to handle). It was a day of celebration and pride. This was the culmination of years of dreaming, wishing, fundraising, organizing and hard work. The community came through for us, and we so desperately wanted to come through for them.
